Thirst. Drought. Desert.
Few words that most people think when you mention United Arab Emirates. For some they believe it is really like that, for some they think nothing will be present except cactus and for some it is just a joke and just a propaganda.
Desert, yes it is real. UAE is known to be very rich in dessert, but drought and thirst? Something we must correct. Like any other Middle Eastern country, UAE doesn’t have a potable source of water in their rich deserted area which is a struggle in a way but later in time, like any other country who can’t produce one, they manage to give their people the best possible water supply they can.
Aside from providing potable water for its people, UAE tried its own best to be known not just a country with a wide and rich desert, but the country has been hailed several times in Guinness Book of World Records achieving a lot of record-breaking events or entity that made their name famous throughout the world.
“Water serves as a unifying element throughout the development; as water’s advocate, we’ve unleashed the kinetic energy of this element to bring people of all ages and all backgrounds together to relish in the stunning fountain performances.” –Mark Fuller, CEO of WET Design <source:www.worldacademy.com>
This fountain situated in Dubai Mall is a record-breaking achievement for UAE as it owns the title of having the largest performing water fountain in the entire world. So I guess, thirst and drought never existed in this country. And they keep proving the world that they are not just rich in deserted areas, they are rich in many more ways.
Aside from the fact that this is a record-breaking thing, every single person on earth visiting Dubai should really see this water performance. The show starts by 6PM everyday and this dancing fountain will continue to perform until the end of the song being played. Every after 30 minutes after 6 in the evening, this fountain will bring everyone’s heart in a totally different world. It is a real time, must-see kind of performance.
How to get there? Well, if it is your first time to be here in Dubai, you have 3 options:
- If you have a rental car, then drive all the way to Dubai Mall. You can use google maps or waze. I prefer waze more because google cannot cope up of how this progressive country has been doing its own construction every now and then and for some reasons, waze is doing great and I don’t why. Anyway, it will be your own preference.
- If using a metro, you need to take the red line going to UAE Exchange and hop out of the train when it is already Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall. This time you have 2 options as well: A. walk form the metro going towards the mall, but mind you, it is a long walk, as in long way walk just to get inside the mall. So if you plan on doing this, please wear the most comfortable shoes you have. B. go out of the metro station, right in front of the exit, there is a bus stop, ride the bus F13 and it will drop you right in front of the entrance of Dubai Mall.
- If you don’t have a car and you don’t want to use the train, then you can ride cab and tell the driver you are going to Dubai Mall. Most drivers knew this famous mall so it will not be a problem.
So this water fountain is located in between Souk Al Bahar and Dubai Mall and it is right in front of the famous Burj Khalifa which will be featured next after this blog. You can locate the site of the fountain using the information desk, there is someone who can help you in there, you can also take a map which is free for everyone and there are computerized screen maps that will show you the way as well. The mall is big enough, so being lost is something common but not nice and I know that but still you can count it as a charge to experience thing.
This wonderful creation is always hitting youtube as people keep posting it. This is a sure bucket list that should be included as you make your tour in UAE. A beautiful and amazing experience that will complete your desert adventure.
